Tod Wood wins Season 20 Week 2, Chris Baker 2nd, Adam Smith 3rd

BCPC Season 20, Game 2– Friday 1st June 2018

Game 2 had approached us on this Friday, the first one in June and it may as well have been a Friday the 13th with a few mishaps to kick off the evening.  Mr. Mark England had decided to leave the poker chips at home whilst some little reprobates had decided to tamper with the lock containing the poker tables; which in turn resulted in Cawley bringing an angle grinder to rescue them from the clutches of suffocation.  #hero!  A few others were running late due to a chaotic motorway just to add a bit more action to the evening.

Nevertheless our founding father and chairman Mr. Brian Yates cunningly adopted a chip set up from a few other smaller sets to resolve that issue whilst the tables were meanwhile being released from their cubby hole enclosure, thankfully unscathed from the drama with Cawley’s angle grinder!

The game was to kick off albeit slightly later than usual, but where there’s a will there’s a way, HOORAH!!!

Tonight’s game

28 dedicated poker people made it down for tonight’s game at the New Talbot in West Bromwich and the starting tables looked a little something like this…

Nye was proudly wearing the shirt of shame for the first time and was making it look SEX-AY whilst Tod caught an eyeful in the background.  🙂

Liam would be first to exit the fold ensuring that the shirt of shame wouldn’t be with Nye for much longer.  His helper by way of Claire Bailey; Her King 10 just too much for Liam’s King 8 after he shoved the flop with top pair.

Just before 21:00 and Baker was racking up the chips against Adam thank to a flush vs flush hand.  His King Queen no match for Adam’s 5/9 cc

Smithy was getting in the action all in preflop against Wozza.  Wozza looked in great shape flipping over a pair of Kings until Smithy showed a pair of rockets.  No help on the flop and Smithy would be victorious.

It was a similar story of pair vs overpair; This time ending in the ultimate demise of Gaz Howard and his pocket Jacks just not quite enough against H’s queens.

Charles unfortunately couldn’t make this game due to a small matter of a trip to Vegas.  Charles nevertheless wanted updates from over the waters and was not disappointed.  Brian managed to get a hand in for Mason’s viewing pleasure and was met with a 7-2 off which was quickly folded.  It would turn out to be a hand of action with an all in preflop by Nic Rawlings and would pit A/7 vs Rhoden’s King 10 reshove.  Just 2 players would see a flop of 4/7/J, Turn 2 and river a 2 which meant a double up to 1200 chips for Nic and Yates kicking himself for folding a full house LOL

Other action saw Tony Trippier take Ricky out in 25th whilst Wood was being take Mr. Healey out of the game in 24th.

Trevor couldn’t quite repeat week 1’s feat after running pocket Kings in to Pocket Aces for a 19th place finish.

Laura and Jake were busy going out in 16th and 15th respectively and by way of updates next information I have will be for the final table!

Final Table

The final table was made up of the following players in no particular order:

Lee Mason
Graham Gorton
Mark England
Claire Bailey
Dan Ryder
Hitendra Patel
Chris Baker
Tod Wood
Matt McKinlay
Adam Smith

Exiting in 10th would be Dan Ryder.  Claire Bailey would take the honour of 9th spot and Mark England took 8th place in todays meeting.

In 7th; Matt McKinlay would exit.  Unfortunately his Ace King slight underdog just couldn’t find a way past Smithy’s pocket Queens.

Exiting in 6th to 4th in order would be H, Mooch and Mason which would leave Baker, Smithy and Wood to battle it out 3 handed.

It was getting late now following the late start and by 2.30am the effects were starting to show.  Surely there would be a bit of luck for one player to end the madness and let everyone get some sleep?!

Maybe, just, maybe.  Tod as a big stack over Smithy gets it in with pocket 3’s and is duly called by Smithy’s 7s.  Truly dominated, Tod somehow manages to pluck a 3 and that would see Adam exit in 3rd.

It wouldn’t be long now until the game was over… Chris would get it all in with pocket Kings and Tod calls with Ace 4.  An ace would seal the fate of Baker and we had a week 2 winner!!!

Tod had this to say on his win:

“I got lucky, but I’ll take it haha.”

Big congratulations to Tod for his win on the night.  The man back on form!  Well played to Chris, Smithy and other finalists and for all that took part give yourselves a big pat on the back 😀
