WHAT IS THE BCPC?
The Black Country Poker Club (BCPC) is the brain-child of founder and club captain Brian Yates. His aim was to allow like-minded low-stakes players to pool resources to pay for higher buy-in tournaments, and then to compete in a live league to win the privilege of playing in those seats with any money won being shared on a 50/50 basis with all league players.
BCPC started its first season in November 2008 with just 10 players. Since then it has grown into the successful club it is now with 25 to 40 players playing each season.
The standard traverses the amateur range, from players who are relatively new to poker in any form to those who bring many years of experience and possess healthy Hendon Mob records. We have members for whom trips to Vegas are the norm each year as well as members who regularly play tournaments like the GUKPT and Genting Poker Series. We also boast several APAT champions.
As well as running an active live league, BCPC also run deepstack tournaments and team championships, many of which take place at The New Talbot pub in West Bromwich.
An internet arm was added to the club in 2011, utilising PokerStars’ Home Games software to run a Premier League competition similar to that seen on TV.
Please take a look around our website to get a feel for our club. If you are interested in joining any of our leagues then please contact us. New members are very welcome.
We claim to be The Best Poker Club in the Midlands – and we believe that is a more than reasonable claim!
