BCPC Season 13, Game 3 – Friday 9 January 2015
HNY to all my homies. Still early days in Season 13 but the leaderboard after week 2 looked like this:
| Position | Name | Pts |
| 1 | Tony Griffiths | 22 |
| 2 | Tod Wood | 15 |
| 3 | Matt Kay | 15 |
| 4 | Gareth Howard | 12 |
| 5 | Tony Trippier | 10 |
| 6 | Kevin Berrie | 9 |
| 7 | Paul Foy | 9 |
| 8 | Adam Smith | 8 |
| 9 | Claire Thornton | 8 |
| 10 | Graham Gorton | 8 |
A windy more than cold night saw 23 great apes descend on the New Talbot for week 3. Double chance tonight (someone tell Chris).
Right, let’s get lubed up
Tony G kicked things off with quad jacks in about the first 30 seconds 🙂 . Ant turned up late (obv) but Steve R still managed to finagle £1 for the high hand even though the current jackpot had been won. Ant’s response: bovvered?
Ant was more concerned about Bri leaving a card on the table from the previous hand while dealing the next. Representative of a fall in standards at the BCPC, he didn’t say. (His actual words: “Book!”)
Speaking of Captain Courageous, he had Tony over a barrel with QQ v 88, but the 8 on the flop (or turn/river) ended all that.
More sets for Tony not long after (“I felt it and it came…”), though he wasn’t in the hand. Paul Foy had KK, Bri QQ, Ant AT. Flop A47 leaving Ant looking good and Tony quietly vomiting. Turn blank, river queen – Captain Bluebook back, baby!
On the feature table, Sean woke up with Aces (pity he wasn’t there to play them), Andy Overton with KK and Matt Wilson with QQ. Andy relatively slowed played his cowboys, as did Matt his lovely ladies. We saw a flop anyway which was 396(ish) and the chips didn’t all go in until the Q on the turn. Quite a night for sets of queens.
Shout from the secondary table: “Foyie smashed Tone!” Not sure what that was about (possibly a won race) but think it left Tony low. But not quiet.
Talk at the feature table moved to 80s legendary pop due Pepsi and Laverne, or possibly Laverne and Shirley. Seriously, who’s Laverne? Ooh, just found it’s a TV show!
From there we somehow got on to the subject of: just how camp is Tod? Telling everyone I clap the night away while watching the Oscars probably didn’t help. Although Andy O took away the statuette for his mouth words at a Corinne Bailey Rae set at V Festival. I love this: so at the end of a particularly well-received song everyone’s whooping away and cheering and then the noise suddenly drops but by this time brain-to-mouth has been engaged and Andy shouts, “Go girl!”
After some slightly dodgy table-moving – musical chairs without the music. Or chairs. (© Mooch) – we carried on. Chris bless him crashed out with no-show Sean sitting on less than 2 BBs. Doh.
Tod was looking good for a biggish stack at the final table before donating over 10k to Adam Smith who smoothly milked Tod with a very nice quad deuces.
Adelaide Bull was this week’s Bubble Boy.
Final table!
Thanks to Gaz for dealing, and in particular for dealing me 44, AK and 77. 🙂
